Genesis 3:16-19a

Unto the woman he said, I will greatly multiply thy sorrow and thy conception; in sorrow thou shalt bring forth children; and thy desire shall be to thy husband, and he shall rule over thee. And unto Adam he said, Because thou hast hearkened unto the voice of thy wife, and hast eaten of the tree, of which I commanded thee, saying, Thou shalt not eat of it: cursed is the ground for thy sake; in sorrow shalt thou eat of it all the days of thy life; Thorns also and thistles shall it bring forth to thee; and thou shalt eat the herb of the field; In the sweat of thy face shalt thou eat bread,

“Sorrow” is a big idea that touches all of life, not just delivering babies!

Noah’s dad named him “Rest”= Hebrew Noach, because he would ” comfort us concerning our work and toil [sorrow] of our hands, because of the ground which the LORD hath cursed.” Genesis 5:29

Adam had extra burdens placed on him because God knew he had willfully chosen to disobey. Eve was a gullible pawn. “But I suffer not a woman to teach, nor to usurp authority over the man, but to be in silence. For Adam was first formed, then Eve. And Adam was not deceived, but the woman being deceived was in the transgression.” 1 Timothy 2:12-14

Thorns and Thistles

Millions of Years before Adam and Eve?

My favorite Dan Lietha drawing ever!

This is one of the clearest statements by God that makes believing his timeline of history the only plain reading of the Bible. Before Adam ate the fruit, there were no such things as thorns. I found these articles particularly interesting about them.

Creation Adventures

I thought of doing this segment after reading Ken Ham’s blog about what they are doing to actively encourage a new generation of biblical scientists:

A recent article by a secular blogger claimed that children who aren’t taught evolution won’t get that spark of interest that propels them to become scientists. Well, at Answers in Genesis we don’t believe that you need to be taught and believe evolution in order to be passionate about discovering more about what God has made. And this certainly bears true throughout history—many of the greatest scientists of all time were Christians who studied nature for God’s glory (and many of them lived at the time of Darwin)! We want more scientists like that, and that’s why we hold our Explore Days and Explore 5-Day Summer Camp at the Creation Museum. ~Ken Ham

You can check out what’s going on at the Creation Museum to put feet to their desire. The lineup looks great!

Other places to let your kids experience science with credit given to the Creator:

  • Camp Infinity is the gold standard of creation STEM camps. I would sure want to go, but the price tag is rather steep. Of course, you get your money’s worth!
  • Akron, Ohio, Fossils and Science Center is a small museum/hands on experience center. Their main focus is kids!
  • Salt Water Studies in Florida is all about connecting kids with the wealth of design on the Atlantic coast.
  • Heart of America Science Resource Center in Kansas s open to families every Saturday through the summer and takes tours to local fossil dig sites. They are even hoping to make a trip to Yellowstone soon.

And that’s just the beginning. The International Association for Creation has a whole web page with museums, camps, zoos, tours, and local fellowships. There’s a lot happening across America if you know where to find them.

It’s still January as I write this, but it’s not too early to start planning family vacation time to include ways to strengthen our confidence in our real and faithful Creator God!

Even if none of these are convenient for you, there are a couple of apps to help you turn any museum or science related center into a creation experience.

Hang Gliders

Don’t really have anything to add, but as you hear in the podcast. It’s his last gig on the show since he’s leaving “kid” behind him. Even in joy there is sorrow in this life. I’m proud of him and look forward to the many ways God is developing his skills and character.
